Sri Lanka: Wildlife Photography Across Three National Parks — 7 Days

Udawalawe, Bundala, and Yala National Parks with tented safari camping and extended wildlife pursuit

This seven-day itinerary moves across three of Sri Lanka's principal wildlife reserves, each offering distinct photographic subjects and terrain. Udawalawe is known for populations of Asian elephants in close proximity and open landscape; Bundala, a RAMSAR-designated wetland reserve, concentrates migratory and resident bird species; Yala, the country's most visited national park, holds populations of leopard, sloth bear, and water buffalo across dense scrubland and grassland. The route includes stays in established hotels in Udawalawe and Tissamaharama, and three consecutive nights in a mobile tented camp stationed within Yala itself, allowing for extended dawn-to-dusk safari sessions. The itinerary is structured around morning and afternoon game drives timed for animal activity and light conditions suitable for photography.
