South Korea: Seoul, DMZ & Silla — 12 Days
Seoul to Gyeongju via Jeju and Busan; temples, markets, and divided history on a Wednesday departure
This 12-day itinerary moves through four of South Korea's distinct regions, each with its own historical bearing. You begin in Seoul, moving through the Changing of the Guard at Gyeongbokgung Palace and the textile stalls of Gwangjang Market, then cross the Demilitarized Zone to stand at the border between North and South. From there, you fly south to Jeju Island to examine volcanic geology and the centuries-old tradition of the Haenyeo divers, then east to Busan for its fish markets and hillside neighborhoods. The final segment travels inland to Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla Kingdom, where you visit Bulguksa Temple and the royal burial mounds that still rise from the city center. The itinerary includes 24 meals, high-speed rail between Gyeongju and Seoul, and a guide throughout.
