Hunza Valley: Forts, Glaciers & High-Altitude Villages — 8 Days

Karakoram Highway to Karimabad, exploring Baltit Fort, Passu Cones, and Hopper Glacier

Hunza Valley sits in the far north of Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, accessible via the Karakoram Highway from Islamabad. The valley is known for its terraced agriculture, ancient stone forts, and a population with a documented history of longevity. This eight-day itinerary moves through the inhabited core of the valley—primarily Karimabad, the main settlement—visiting the two principal fortified sites (Baltit and Altit), trekking to elevated viewpoints, and making day trips to outlying villages and natural formations. The route includes Attabad Lake, the distinctive conical rock formations near Passu, and access to Hopper Glacier at the valley's eastern edge. Accommodation is in hotels and guesthouses; most meals are included. The itinerary involves short to moderate day hikes rather than technical mountaineering.
